Top 7 Ripoffs of Pikachu

Did you know Pikachu specifically has been ripped off countless times throughout Pokemon history? Here are the facts about it all, brought to you by VGA Chronicles Top Lists.

Top 7 Ripoffs of Pikachu

#7. Togedemaru

Let's be honest with ourselves here. This Pokemon got shafted on its time investment for design. Not much to really explain, as you can see. Togedemaru is a round, cybernetic squirrel with an electrical current flowing through it. It is the saddest ripoff of Pikachu on this list, as it didn't seem to try hard enough. Togedemaru deserves another shot at life. Back to the drawing board, literally.

#6. Dedenne

Being the ugliest Pokemon on the list, Dedenne struggles to hide it's obvious Pikachu-based influence. It has red cheeks, a mousey face, and is a prominent electrical fairy in the Pokemon multiverse. Legend has it that the Power Plants in the Pokemon world are powered by Dedenne labor. It may be better off being used this way, as it is too ugly to legally be used in Pokemon battles and gyms.

#5. Emolga

Emolga is an obvious ripoff of Flying Pikachu. Sure it's considered a "sky squirrel," but this term has become known as offensive to many Pokemon connoisseurs. Squirrels are tree-dwelling, surface beasts but can often be seen flying when they are struck by cars, motorbikes, or other means of lethal force. Emolga is considered to be based off of this phenomenon, as even sometimes squirrels are electrocuted, correlating with Emolga's dual-type electric/flying.

#4. Pachirisu

A lot of people don't know about Pachirisu. Pachirisu is a mysterious squirrel-like Pokemon with Pikachu-related powers. It is unknown where Pachirisu came from, though the rumor is that it was created by Mewtwo on Cinnabar Island and distributed across Sinnoh by Team Rocket to compete with the overbearing Pikachu population. Not long after assimilation of the creature, the locals were convinced that Pachirisu was literally just another Pikachu sub-species. However, this is not true.

#3. Plusle & Minun

Plusle & Minun, possibly two of the best known Pikachu ripoffs, are well-established bullies in the Pokemon world. Alone, they are peasants. But united, they are an unfair, overpowered force that deals out death and destruction. Similar to Pikachu, these two little fiendish creatures from heck are hard to find. And when you do find one of them, it's not the one you need. These two Pokemon are the causers of many sighs.

#2. Pichu

Okay, I know. It's Pichu, the baby form of Pikachu. However, it's a total ripoff of Pikachu. Just look at it. It could have at least been maybe a different color. Or perhaps not an electric type, but maybe a fire type. It could have also maybe had some more impressive moves. I don't know. It kinda sucks. Nobody uses this Pokemon against gym leaders or legendaries.

#1. Raichu

Raichu is a total complete ripoff of Pikachu. Rather than allowing Pikachu to be a stand-alone Pokemon, it was given the alternate form of Raichu, which is basically just a fat, tanned Pikachu that is required a stone of thunderous energy in order to exist. Raichu thinks he's better than Pikachu, but if that were the case, would we really be praising Pikachu still to this very day? i think not. Rather, I know that Pikachu is the only true Pikachu. And honestly, what more could we ask for? ⚡
